Zaheerabad, Sangareddy District –
On Sunday evening, a devastating accident took place on the busy NH-65 near Zaheerabad in Sangareddy District, where a container lorry carrying eight cars from Mumbai to Hyderabad was involved in a massive fire incident. Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames suddenly erupt from the lorry as it traveled down the highway, engulfing the container and quickly spreading to all eight vehicles within. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the fire had already consumed the cars by the time they arrived at the scene, resulting in total damage.
The lorry driver, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to Sangareddy Government Hospital for immediate treatment. While the driver is expected to make a recovery, the cause of the fire remains unclear. Authorities have not ruled out mechanical issues or electrical faults within the lorry, but an official investigation has been launched by the Zaheerabad Police to determine the exact cause of the fire. According to the police, they are interviewing witnesses, examining any surveillance footage from nearby traffic cameras, and conducting a thorough inspection of the lorry’s condition to find clues that may explain the sudden blaze.
Local authorities have been alerted to the incident and are working to understand if any additional safety measures need to be implemented on this frequently traveled route. Traffic was impacted for several hours as firefighters worked to control the flames and clear the debris, causing delays for other motorists.
This tragic incident has led to a substantial financial loss estimated at around ₹1.2 crore, accounting for the value of the eight vehicles that were being transported. The incident has raised concerns about transportation safety on highways, especially for lorries carrying valuable goods. The district administration is expected to review existing protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
