Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) condemned the police attack on Huzurabad MLA Kaushik Reddy. The incident occurred when Kaushik Reddy and BRS workers staged a protest, demanding the timely release of the second phase of financial assistance under the Dalit Bandhu scheme. KTR, therefore, criticized the police for using excessive force. He called it an unjustified attack on an elected representative and his supporters, who were peacefully advocating for the rights of Dalit beneficiaries.

The Dalit Bandhu scheme aims to uplift Dalit families in Telangana. However, delays in the release of the second phase of financial aid have caused frustration among beneficiaries. As a result, Kaushik Reddy and BRS workers raised concerns about the government’s failure to meet its commitments. In response, KTR described the police assault as an attack on democracy itself. He emphasized that elected leaders should be allowed to express the concerns of their constituents without fear of violence or repression.
